mayor15013,500 KIDS COMPETE IN MAYOR’S SCHOOL WALKING CHALLENGE IN 2014

More than 13,500 kids at 37 schools in eight Treasure Valley cities laced up their shoes and walked to improve their health in October 2014 for the Mayor’s School Walking Challenge launched by Mayor David H. Bieter. The students logged an impressive logged an impressive 102,445.18 miles!

Nineteen Treasure Valley elementary schools were honored for their accomplishments in total number of miles walked and highest percentage of participation. Nine schools reported 100% participation from their students. Winners received cash prizes for the purchase of fitness equipment for their school. EVERY BODY WALK

Every Body Walk! is a campaign aimed at getting Americans up and moving. We are working to spread the message that walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week really can improve your overall health and prevent disease. We provide news and resources on walking, health information, a personal pledge form to start walking, as well as a place to share stories about individual experiences with walking.
