Hunger is on the rise in our community. In Idaho, one in 6 residents is food “insecure” – of those 95,150 people are children. In 2012 and 2013, Let’s Move Boise coordinated a Grow a Row program to teach residents about gardening and how to share fresh produce with local food pantries. You can get started with your own garden by using our planting guide, and gardening tips. You can share your extra fruits and vegetables with food pantries in your neighborhood.
Grow a Row partners included the Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS), Idaho Botanical Garden, Healthwise, the Idaho Foodbank, Boise Parks & Recreation and the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health.
